WISE Town Hall Generates Discussion Between Citizens And Elected Officials

About 300 people made their way inside Woods Memorial Church on the evening of Monday, May 15, for the first District 33 town hall hosted by WISE (Women Indivisible Strong Effective), a newly formed grassroots activism group that, per its mission statement, “provides a platform for diverse women to come together and defend the values and rights that make communities inclusive, fair and safe places.”

Letter To The Editor: Hate In Our Backyard – A Teachable Moment?

Counselors and school psychologists will, no doubt, remind us that there are “teachable moments” during such times.  And, of course there are.  Many of us with WISE have a sign on our front lawn that reads:  Hate Has no Home Here.  While we aspire to this goal in our families, in our County we are seeing our elected officials do the opposite. They propose to use our taxpayer dollars to create divisions, rather than to bridge them.

Town Hall Helps Ensure Accountability – May 23, 2017 Capital Gazette

Over 300 attended and another 300 watched a live-stream on Facebook. Sen. Reilly noted in his opening remarks that it was the largest town hall he had addressed in his political career.

Severna Park Progressives Put District 33 Reps in the Hot Seat

A progressive political group from Severna Park called WISE (Women Indivisible Strong Effective) sponsored a District 33 Town Hall on May 15 at 7:00 p.m., which was very well attended, with over 300 people in attendance and an additional 300 watching on the Arundel Patriot Facebook Livestream.  An impressed Senator Ed Reilly told the audience, “After every legislative session, we have a chance to be invited out to groups. Sometimes, we will get groups of 30 or 50.  Never have I had, in my 15 years, the opportunity to talk to so many people at one time.”
