Today’s Daily Action: We want a Patient Bill of Rights that is Pro Patient!

From our NAACP partners:

Dear Community Leaders,

Senate Bill 530 – Patients’ Bill of Rights has been amended past the point of being recognizable. The Maryland State Conference requests your phone calls tonight to OPPOSE this legislation.

Please call Health and Government Operations Chair Shane Pendergrass 410-841-3139 and Vice Chair Bromwell 410-841-3766 and tell them you OPPOSE SB530 With Amendments. This is a bill written solely by and for the Hospital Association to protect hospitals not patients. Patient advocates have had absolutely no input into this bill which will further erode patient rights.

Here is a copy of the bill with amendments. You can read for yourselves the rights that were originally introduced but have now been crossed out, virtually all of them.

Thank you for your efforts. Please forward this to your networks as you are able.

Every call, voice mail and email matters.

Sincerely,

Brenda Wintrode
