Stop this dangerous bill!
From the Humane Society:
This is urgent. The House of Representatives will begin votes on the current Farm Bill TODAY—and your voice is critical.
As it stands, the bill includes a dangerous amendment from Rep. Steve King that could undo critical state and local laws establishing minimal standards for how animals are treated, including puppy mill dogs.
The puppy mill industry should be dying. But in a single vote, it could come roaring back. We can’t let a handful of Congressmen end any hope that a dog has of getting out of the filthy cage she has been in for years.
While all animals are in grave danger because of the King amendment, there is also an opportunity to insert two pro-animal welfare measures strengthening animal fighting laws (the Roskam amendment) and reforming agricultural commodity promotion programs (the Brat amendment).
Please make a brief, polite phone call to Rep. Anthony Brown at (202) 225-8699 now. You can say, “As your constituent, I urge you to vote for the pro-animal welfare Roskam and Brat amendments to the Farm Bill, but urge you to vote no on final passage of the Farm Bill since it contains the King amendment, which blocks state and local measures protecting animals and consumers.”
