Zirkin Stood in the Way of the Long Gun Bill

Please read this excellent piece written by Andrea Chamblee in the Capital Gazette. Chamblee is the wife of John McNamara, one of the five Capital Gazette staff members who were killed last June when a gunman targeted and attacked the Annapolis newsroom. There were multiple pieces of legislation this session that would have created critical policies around gun control and gun violence prevention, one which would have closed the loophole which enables already prohibited persons from buying a rifle or shotgun. Please read Chamblee’s article, where she details how State Senator Bobby Zirkin delayed this bill and prevented it from being voted on to become law.
