Contact your Rep on House Judiciary today to support Women’s Prerelease Center

The bill to create a women’s pre-release unit for women preparing to return to the community after incarceration is on the move and will be heard in the House’s judiciary committee tomorrow, February 18 at 1 p.m. If you are in District 33, please contact Delegate Malone by phone or email to encourage him to support this bill. There are currently 9 pre-release facilities for men, but none for women to help them reintegrate into society and give them the best chance of success.

Here is a sample email to send to Delegate Michael Malone (michael.malone@house.state.md.us)

Dear Delegate Malone,
I am a constituent in District 33 and I urge you to support HB0608 Correctional Services—Prerelease Unit for Women—Requirement to Operate. There are currently 9 pre-release facilities for men and none for women who are returning to the community following incarceration. This facility is greatly needed to help women reintegrate into society and give them the best chance of success.

Sincerely,

[your name and address]
