Stand with transgender folks everywhere on the Transgender Day of Remembrance on 11/20/2020
The Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20 raises awareness of hate crimes against transgender people and gives us a way to publicly mourn the lives of people who might otherwise be forgotten. It is a day to express love and respect for transgender people in the face of national indifference and hatred. The Day of Remembrance reminds non-transgender people that we are their sons, daughters, parents, friends and lovers and gives allies a chance to stand in vigil, memorializing those who’ have died by anti-transgender violence. We ask all of you to use this as an opportunity to strongly commit to trans inclusion at every level, to provide support to people who are trans and gender expansive, and to advocate for protections at all levels of government, Including local, state and federal. Please join our huddle to build greater protections and equity for LGBTQ folks locally.
