Please ACT NOW to pass the Inclusive Schools Act

The Inclusive Schools Act (SB98/HB155) would create published non-discrimination policies across all publicly-funded K-12 schools. It has passed the Maryland House 3 times, including this year. However, for the third year in a row, it has failed to get out of the Judicial Proceedings Committee, coming up for a committee vote nine times this session.
Senators continue to stall and hold the legislation over various excuses –including efforts to spread misinformation about disabled students or to create loopholes for religious private schools receiving public funds. These efforts have run down the clock, almost ensuring that this critical legislation will not come up for a vote for the third year in a row. All Maryland kids deserve safe and inclusive learning environments in tax-payer-funded schools. Help us by contacting your Senator and Senate Leadership and urge a vote on the Inclusive Schools Act SB98/HB155.
Ways to take action:
FreeState Justice, Inc. (formerly FreeState Legal Project, Inc., merging with Equality Maryland) is a social justice organization that works through direct legal services, legislative and policy advocacy, and community engagement to enable Marylanders across the spectrum of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer identities to be free to live authentically, with safety and dignity, in all communities throughout our state.
