Poverty

Our Mission

The Poverty Huddle advocates for changes in public policy to reduce poverty, especially for children. In past years we have provided testimony in favor of bills to: expand the school lunch program to more children living in poverty, expand early childhood education programs, and to improve incentives for developers to include some affordable housing units in their complexes. To receive information from the Poverty Huddle, please email Jenny Zito jennyzito@gmail.com.

Our Work

Our first activity this fall is to rally support for a Governor veto override of the bill that would allow progressive taxes (the rich to pay taxes at a higher rate than the poor) in Anne Arundel County. We will also advocate in support of bills at the national level designed to reduce child poverty in the United States.

Upcoming Events
